Louise Walder is an Australian-based painter working primarily in acrylic and oil paints. Her work explores the emotional and sensory connections between inner experience and the physical world, using vivid, textured abstraction to give form to the intangible—memory, emotion, and sensation.
Influenced by fleeting everyday moments—shadows through architectural spaces, the quiet tension between natural and built environments—Louise creates paintings that are more about feeling than interpretation. Colour, texture, and mark-making become tools to express what can’t be fully defined with words.
Photography plays a central role in her process. She collects visual fragments—patterns, lines, shifting light—that later inform her compositions, guiding intuitive gestures and layered surfaces. Each brushstroke captures a moment in time, a trace of something deeply felt but not always seen.
Louise’s practice is grounded in impermanence. Her work embraces the unpredictable nature of process, allowing instinct and emotion to shape immersive spaces where the invisible becomes momentarily visible—places to feel, pause, and reflect.
